Notice of closure of the European Regional Centre at the University of East Anglia

The Regional Centre's personnel will continue to support the ambitions of Future Earth and continue to be connected to the Knowledge-Action Networks, Global Research Projects and United Kingdom National Committee.

The Future Earth European Regional Centre at the University of East Anglia is closing at the end of August. The European Centre could not secure the long-term funding required for a strategic investment in Future Earth. However, its personnel will continue to support the ambitions of Future Earth and continue to be connected to the Knowledge-Action Networks, Global Research Projects and United Kingdom National Committee.

National Committees in Europe will, in the interim, be supported by the European hubs of the global Secretariat while a consultation is carried-out on how Future Earth in Europe can best support National Committees, European researchers and other stakeholders. If you would like to join this discussion pro-actively please see the contacts below.

Future Earth is already in the process of prioritising and streamlining its organisational structure to deliver its goals quicker and more effectively. The closure of the European Regional Centre will enable restructuring which will overall allow for simpler engagement, funding and operations. For the time being, National Committees will deal directly with Wendy Broadgate and Thorsten Kiefer at the Global Hubs in Sweden and France, respectively.

For further information please contact Wendy (wendy.broadgate@futureearth.org) and Thorsten (thorsten.kiefer@futureearth.org) or Asher Minns from the closing European Centre, at the University of East Anglia (a.minns@uea.ac.uk).
