Steering Committee for Transformations to Sustainability programme
The Steering Committee will provide scientific guidance and support to the programme. It has responsibility for decisions on the selection of proposals and will advise on strategy development and resource mobilisation. Members include Frans Berkhout, interim Director of Future Earth, and Carolina Vera, a member of the Future Earth Science Committee.
The ISSC's Transformations to Sustainability programme seeks to change the way research on global environmental change and sustainability is done, by promoting the co-production of knowledge by academic and non-academic partners, with a focus on understanding and enabling the social transformations needed to secure equitable and durable solutions to some of the world’s most urgent challenges of global change and sustainability.
Launched in March 2014, the programme is supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) for an initial period of four years (2014–2017). It will provide seed funding for up to 30 proposals in its first year and for three “Transformative Knowledge Networks” over the subsequent three years.
The Transformations to Sustainability programme is a major contribution towards Future Earth.
