Chinese National Committee for Future Earth establishes group to promote global risk research

The Committee aims to provide leadership within the scientific and academic community in China, and to educate and work with stakeholders to co-develop a resilient society. It will conduct in-depth studies of disaster risk governance mechanisms in order to support government decision-making processes relevant to disaster risk reduction, and to help business sectors assess risks and identify opportunities.

The Committee will work closely with the Integrated Risk Governance (IRG) project, the Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR) programme, and with the International Society for Integrated Disaster Risk Management (IDRiM) to further develop and promote the integrated risk governance paradigm.

The first meeting of the  “Expert Committee of the Future Earth Chinese Research Group on Disaster Early Warning in the Context of Global Environmental Change” was held in Beijing on July 28th 2015. The meeting aimed to set goals for the group and agree an implementation plan for the next 2 – 3 years. Read the full meeting report at the Chinese National Committee website.
