Farooq Ullah appointed Vice-Chair of Future Earth Engagement Committee

Farooq Ullah is Executive Director of the Stakeholder Forum (SF), and has a decade of experience at international, national and local levels in public policy and sustainable development, as well as significant private sector experience. Farooq served on the interim Engagement Committee of Future Earth before being appointed to the inaugural Engagement Committee in November 2014. He joins the Future Earth executive team alongside Amy Luers, Vice-Chair of the Engagement Committee and Jairam Ramesh, Chair of the Engagement Committee.

Farooq’s work has involved analyzing public policy, sustainable operations and procurement, strategy, governance and decision-making. He is passionate about connecting science and policy to society, and ensuring the involvement of stakeholders in intergovernmental processes. Farooq is an active member of the Future Earth working group on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which coordinates activities relating to the post-2015 development agenda. 

The main role of the Engagement Committee is to ensure that the principles of the co-design and co-production of knowledge are embodied in Future Earth activities and to provide strategic guidance on stakeholder engagement, communications and capacity mobilization.

About Farooq Ullah

Farooq took over formally as Executive Director of the Stakeholder Forum (SF) on 1st September, 2012, after joining as Head of Policy and Advocacy in September 2011. Before this, Farooq was at the UK Sustainable Development Commission (SDC) for nearly five years. Currently, Farooq is a Specialist Advisor to the UK Parliament's Environmental Audit Committee and an Associate with the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD). Farooq holds a BComm in Management Science from the University of Alberta (UoA) and an MSc in Public Policy and Administration from the London School of Economics (LSE).
