This free online platform is a space for professionals from around the world to gather and do the crucial work of building transformations to a more sustainable world. It is open to anyone committed to sustainability, including researchers from all disciplines and experts in policy, civil society, business, media, the humanities, arts and law and interested citizens.

Once you have signed up, you will receive an email with directions on how to get started in exploring this new initiative for sustainability research and engagement.
The Open Network is more than just a social network. It is a platform for driving global efforts to address the critical challenges in sustainability identified by Future Earth. Here, you can meet new peers and collaborators, shape research questions and projects, keep track of events, learn about funding and job opportunities, plus much more.
The Open Network will also serve as an important portal to Future Earth. On this platform, you can keep track of our activities around the world and help adapt and advance our research agenda moving forward. Most importantly, the Open Network is an evolving tool, and we encourage feedback on how we can build an online platform that meets your needs.
Some of the things you can do on the Open Network include:

- Post to, manage and follow event calendars
- Track community job boards and new publications

From Paul Shrivastava, Executive Director of Future Earth:
"At the heart of Future Earth is a commitment to generating research in a more inclusive and integrated way. We envision that the Open Network will be a model for bringing new voices, including policy-makers, non-governmental organisations, entrepreneurs, artists and others, into global sustainability research – shaping science that is more responsive and relevant to the needs of society."
