Event approaching: Ideas and Innovation Forum in Stockholm

Future Earth invites researchers, students and other professionals in sustainability, plus interested members of the public, to attend the Ideas and Innovation Forum at the 7th International Conference on Sustainability Science (ICSS). The event will take place on 24 August 2017 in Stockholm, Sweden. It will bring together scientists and other leaders in sustainability to discuss how the world can solve a range of pressing challenges. They include adapting to climate change and building green cities and economies.

The Ideas and Innovation Forum is open to the public and free to attend. For more information on this forum and how you can participate, visit the conference website.

This one-day event will serve as a showcase for 22 SDG Labs supported by Future Earth and Stockholm Resilience Centre. They are a series of prototype solutions for addressing the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These labs take an array of creative approaches to fostering sustainability, from mobilising youth to creating new ways of visualising and experiencing scientific research. Projects include a series of hackathons in Nigeria that will empower Millenials to develop solutions for the loss of biodiversity in the city of Kano; an effort to integrate Indigenous and local knowledge into efforts to improve environmental and human health on the island of Fiji; and an initiative to encourage sustainable practices in the craft beer industry in Sweden.

ICSS 2017 is organised by Future Earth and Stockholm Resilience Centre and will run from 24 to 26 August. It will address how researchers and leaders in government, business, civil society and more can generate new knowledge to support the SDGs. Registration for the last two days of this research conference are closed
