Open Positions in Montreal

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other digital technologies have the potential to help tackle some of the world’s most pressing problems, such as climate change, food insecurity, public health risks, and more.  Yet, global sustainability is not an inevitable outcome of the digital revolution, as such there is a need and an opportunity to focus AI development towards a holistic approach that considers full human-natural systems and prioritizes problems worth solving. To address this challenge and opportunity we will work with leaders and innovators from artificial intelligence (AI), Earth systems science, environmental policy and advocacy communities to develop a Research and Innovation Agenda that outlines the “problems worth solving” and the transformative opportunities that can lead to systems change for addressing climate change and global sustainability more broadly.

The Research and Innovation Agenda will be developed through consultations and research led by a team at the Montreal Hub. The scope of work will encompass the following phases (1) background research on range of opportunities and challenges; (2) online consultations; (3) an in-person workshop convening 40-70 technology and sustainability experts in Montreal  2019; (4) final report preparation, and launch of the agenda.
