Future Earth at the World Economic Forum: Why our planet needs an Earth Commission

Panel discussion with Professor Johan Rockström, Greta Thunberg and others.

This event will be livestreamed on Future Earth's Facebook page

Human activities are accelerating changes in the Earth system at a scale and pace that is pushing the planet out of a safe operating space for humanity. We have policy frameworks to tackle this challenge, but science is still needed to put policy into practice. This is where an Earth Commission can help.

Future Earth and the International Union for the Conservation of Nature will be launching an Earth Commission of top scientists this year. The purpose is to compile the knowledge needed to underpin science-based targets – similar to the global climate target of 2 degrees – to safeguard a stable and resilient planet.

To learn about how the Earth Commission and science-based targets can help business and policy makers achieve the global sustainable development goals – join us at this informal discussion at the World Economic Forum in Davos with top scientists, executives and a young climate activist.
