European Space Agency’s ‘Φ-Week’ to explore future systems and applications of Earth observation for a sustainable future

Date: July 09, 2019

The European Space Agency (ESA) is organising an Earth observation ‘Φ-week’ event, 9-13 September 2019 near Rome, Italy, to explore the challenges and opportunities created by digital and sensing revolutions in Earth observation.

Artificial intelligence will be a strong theme, as well as examples of novel applications of Earth observation to tackle societal challenges. The side events will include how to get the most of Earth observation data with the help of data cube services and machine learning tools, linking citizen science with environmental data using datacube technologies, and user forums for accessing Earth observation data via tools and platforms.

Registration for Φ-week is free, but as it was oversubscribed last year, anyone wishing to attend should register before the deadline advertised (25 July). Future Earth has a partnership with ESA to encourage participation from the Future Earth community, particularly for Global South members.
