Future Earth Invites Nominations for Horizon Scanning Editorial Board-CLOSED

Future Earth invites nominations for experts to join an Editorial Board for a horizon scanning to identify the knowledge gaps and research priorities on climate change and biodiversity science to inform the development of Horizon Europe’s 2025-2027 work programmes. Nominees should be engaged researchers or knowledge users working on any area of climate change and biodiversity research ranging from earth observation, social sciences, nature based solutions to policy design and others.

Experts with a broad outlook from Future Earth’s Global Research Networks and beyond are encouraged to submit their nominations by 18 April 2023. Self-nominations are welcomed.

About the Call for Editorial Board Members

This call pertains to completing a synthesis report for the European Commission by December 2023 that identifies the current knowledge gaps and research priorities in climate change and biodiversity science from a systems thinking perspective, considering societal aspects, and what can be done.

The aim is to provide the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation recommendations on what thematic areas should be prioritized for prospective research and innovation interventions.  This includes:

  • Reviewing inputs from an open call for topics
  • Identifying emerging themes for stakeholder workshops
  • Identify most important themes
  • Oversee writing and editing process

We are also looking into opportunities to publish this process in a peer-reviewed journal.

Nomination and appointment process

Nominations should be made through this form. Nominees should have agreed to be nominated and understand the commitment. Self nominations are possible.

Editorial Board members will be appointed following Future Earth’s principles of diversity, in terms of expertise, gender, and geographies.

Deadline for nominations is 18 April 2023.
