Anthropocene Magazine Releases Print Issue #7: Exploring Pattern Seeking in the Human Age
The award-winning magazine published by Future Earth, Anthropocene, has released its seventh print issue. It covers the rise of machine learning advances in sustainability – from the AI revolution sweeping wildlife ecology to simulated milk made with molecules from cabbage and pineapple, and more. Here’s a snippet of the Editor’s Note from the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Kathy Kohm:
“The human brain has been called the ultimate pattern recognition tool. But now, here in the Anthropocene era, we have stumbled upon a pattern-seeking machine that smashes through all previous records. Artificial intelligence, a grab bag of advanced technologies that include neural networks, large language models, and generative algorithms, is leaving its creators in the dust.
Their magic lies in mind-bending repetition, analyzing and iterating until their output mimics, and sometimes exceeds, human abilities.”
