Pop-up webinar II: Best practices in transdisciplinary and co-designed research
The Future Earth Secretariat, Future Earth Europe Regional Centre and European Alliance of Global Change Research Committees launched a series of webinars on transdisciplinary and co-designed research in May 2016.
This second webinar in the series, which will air at two times on 29 September, will discuss how to mobilise and engage scientists and stakeholders in transdisciplinary research processes to produce solutions for sustainable development. The webinar will share experiences presented by participants from CIRODD, the Centre interdisciplinaire de recherche en opérationnalisation du développement durable, which is based in Montreal, Canada.
CIRODD has extensive experience in putting sustainable development into practice and in working at the interface of science and society. The case studies presented during the webinar will shed light on how to mobilise researchers and stakeholders in a transdisciplinary process and will also touch on the risks involved when such different communities meet.
CIRODD has actively developed the art of conducting transdisciplinary research in sustainable development and will share with the Future Earth community its lessons learned on how to avoid epistemological misunderstandings, to generate enthusiasm and to commit every participant toward the desired goal. The presentations will end with some basic but often overlooked elements that organisers can put into place during the design and meeting stages of successful transdisciplinary projects.

This webinar series is a platform for the Future Earth community to share their knowledge and experiences on co-design and transdisciplinarity, leading up to the Future Earth Regional Workshop for Europe on 22-23 November 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden. This year's workshop offers training in transdisciplinarity for Future Earth European participants.
The webinars are open to all, including scientists, communicators and stakeholders in the fields of sustainability and global change. The first webinar held on 11 May can be seen in the Future Earth webinar archive here.
