Launched in 2022 by the Frontiers Research Foundation, the Frontiers Planet Prize is a unique, global science competition that recognizes and rewards exceptional scientists who deliver breakthrough, scalable solutions to address the planetary crisis.

In partnership with the International Science Council, the prize’s ambition is to collapse the timeline to reach scientific consensus, by mobilizing the global academic community to identify ambitious actionable solutions.

Each year, the Frontiers Planet Prize announces a National Champion in each participating country and awards three prizes of USD 1 million each to three International Champions, who are selected by an independent jury. The prize money is used to accelerate, scale up and amplify the impact of the award-winning research on a global scale.

The National Champions from each participating country are announced on Earth Day, April 22, and the three International Champions are announced at a ceremony in June.
