Hannah Liddy

Executive Officer

Hannah Liddy is the executive officer of the ‘Analysis, Integration, and Modeling of the Earth System’ (AIMES) global research project of Future Earth. She is based at the NASA Goddard Institute of Space Studies and the Center for Climate Systems Research at Columbia University. She is an organic geochemist and paleoclimatologist by training and reconstructed changes in vegetation and precipitation during the mild greenhouse climates of the Pliocene and Miocene using plant leaf wax biomarkers extracted from marine sediment cores. She was a 2014 Schlanger Ocean Drilling Fellow and sailed on the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) Expedition 355: Arabian Sea Monsoon in 2015 as an organic geochemist to recover and characterize sediments from the Indus Fan. This experience fostered her interest in working with international scientists to address Earth system research initiatives that go beyond the remit of a single institution or discipline. She received her B.A. in Environmental Studies from Bard College and Ph.D. in Earth Science from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
