Sandrine Quéré
Sandrine Quéré is an adjunct professor at the Université du Québec à Montréal. She is passionate about our beautiful planet, the Earth. Her main concerns are helping preserving it through her research and science communication activities.Sandrine holds a Ph.D. with honours in geophysics from the University of Science at Toulouse, France. She has over 15 years of experience in modelling in geophysics and teaching. During her doctorate, she worked on the first model in 3D that coupled the Earth’s mantle to plate tectonics. She was then selected to work as a research engineer at the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris on a survey of all Earth’s volcanoes by satellite. Over the past few years, she has been working as a postdoctoral fellow in London, at the University of Western Ontario, at the University of Toronto, at Utrecht University in The Netherlands and at Université du Québec à Montréal. Her academic and professional mobility has provided Sandrine with an excellent knowledge of institutions, science policies and EU research and technological development (RTD) Framework Programme as she participated in several projects submitted to the European Commission, as well as to US and Canadian research institutions.Beyond her international research positions, Sandrine Quéré acts as an elected French representative for French people living abroad. Her strong scientific expertise is complemented with diverse experiences such as contributions to local politics, environmental associations and ‘green’ education.
