The Global Carbon Project (GCP) integrates knowledge of greenhouse gases for human activities and the Earth system. Our projects include global budgets for three dominant greenhouse gases — carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide — and complementary efforts in urban, regional, cumulative, and negative emissions.

Science highlights include:

  • The Global Carbon Budget: an annual update on the carbon budget and trends;
  • The Methane Budget: a regular update of the global methane budget and trends;
  • The Global Carbon Atlas: a platform to explore and visualize the most up-to-date data on carbon fluxes resulting from human activities and natural processes.

GCP is also a research partner of the World Climate Research Programme.
