DIVERSITAS celebrates 23 years of existence and transition to Future Earth
It showcased the achievements and legacy of DIVERSITAS over the course of its more than 20 years of existence and highlighted the new opportunities for biodiversity science afforded by the transition to Future Earth.
The programme included presentations from Frans Berkhout, interim Director of Future Earth, Steven Wilson, Executive Director of the International Council for Science (ICSU), and Wendy Watson-Wright, UNESCO.
The conference programme reflected the full scope of DIVERSITAS' work and engagement.
In parallel to the Celebration, the DIVERSITAS core projects (bioGENESIS, ecoSERVICES, ecoHEALTH and GMBA) held their respective annual Scientific Committees meetings. The joint Celebration/series of Scientific Committee meetings provided a unique opportunity for interactions between members of the DIVERSITAS community.
Attendance at the Celebration was upon invitation. The invitees were a sample of the much larger DIVERSITAS community of around 5,000 members.
