Mason University Students Embark on Summer of Research with Future Earth
For the third year, some George Mason University graduate students will spend their summers with Future Earth researchers co-creating and conducting research activities. Nana Ama Obeng Nti, PhD student in Earth Systems and Geoinformation Science (COS), will research nature-based adaptation strategies in Nigeria in collaboration with Future Earth’s Urban Knowledge Action Network. Yukun Zhang, PhD student in Environmental Science and Policy (COS), will be assessing progress towards equity and inclusivity in global sustainability research and policy venues, in collaboration with the Water-Energy-Food Nexus Knowledge Action Network at the newly founded Nexus IPO.
The 2024 Sustainability Summer Fellowships for Graduate Research Partnerships program is co-sponsored by Mason’s Graduate Division and the Institute for a Sustainable Earth. It provides financial support and professional development to graduate students who will work with partner organizations, like Future Earth, on applied research projects. Through their partnerships, students will gain valuable experience in developing urgent and translational research – and leverage their research findings in their dissertation or master’s thesis work.
Congratulations to the Fellows!
